Mr M Drury

Mr Drury is our Assistant Principal for Safeguarding and Attendance, and joined us in June 2023. He brings  a significant amount of leadership experience having most recently overseen behaviour, attitudes and inclusion in a good, and improving, school in Bradford.

Mr Drury started his career teaching Business Studies and has performed a number of middle and senior leader roles including Head of Department, Achievement Leader and Senior Strategic Leader. In 2015 He took on the role to lead a Post-16 Provision out of special measures and by 2019 led the provision to a Good judgement. Since then, Mr Drury has led on several whole school priorities including being a Senior Mental Health Lead and overseeing inclusion, careers, personal development and behaviour.

He believes that having good attendance is particularly vital to enable students to flourish in school and hopes he can bring his expertise and knowledge to help improve the experience of every Lightcliffe Academy student, so they have every opportunity to flourish academically, socially, spiritually and emotionally in our supportive and caring environment.

Outside of school Mr Drury is a coach of a girls football team and is a keen follower of Huddersfield Town. He also enjoys spending time with his family.
