Mr Hamill joins the Senior Leadership Team this year with a responsibility for the Quality of Education; focusing particularly on the reading and oracy skills of our students.
Mr Hamill graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in English Literature and took up his first teaching post as an English teacher at St. Mary's, Menston; one of the highest performing comprehensive schools in the country. His passion for teaching & learning and developing the literacy skills of students from all backgrounds led him to take up the post of Literacy Lead at Lightcliffe Academy in 2017, where he led outreach support for secondary schools in the Abbey MAT and beyond. Alongside this, as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) he offered successful outreach work in several schools in Leeds and Calderdale, helping to drive up standards and outcomes in whole-school literacy. Mr Hamill is incredibly excited to contribute to Lightcliffe’s journey to ensure that the academy is recognised as an example of excellence with a unique, innovative and vibrant learning community.
