Course Overview:

Year 7:

HT1 - Students will learn

  • how to give some personal information about yourself
  • to count up to 20 in Spanish
  • to say when your birthday is
  • to say the Spanish alphabet
  • to say what items you have in your school bag
  • the Spanish for classroom objects
  • the different ways of saying THE and A/AN in Spanish

 

HT2 - Students will learn

  • the Spanish for school subjects
  • how to say what subjects you study
  • about the Present Tense in Spanish
  • how to describe your teachers
  • to say which school subjects you like and dislike saying why
  • some items of food and drink in Spanish
  • how to say what you eat and drink

 

HT3 - Students will learn

  • how to say if you have any brothers and sisters
  • the numbers in Spanish up to 100
  • how to say if you have any pets
  • the colours in Spanish
  • how to describe yourself and others
  • how to say what colour hair and eyes you have

 

HT4 - Students will learn

  • some European countries in Spanish
  • how to say where you live
  • how to say where your house is and how to describe it
  • the Spanish for rooms in the house
  • how to say what objects you have in your bedroom and where these are
  • how to say what you do in your spare time

 

HT5 - Students will learn

  • how to say what you do in your spare time
  • how to tell the time in Spanish
  • how to say what sports you play in your spare time
  • how to say what you like and don’t like doing in your spare time and why
  • how to say what you are going to do in your spare time
  • how to say what you do in your spare time

 

HT6 - Students will learn

  • how to say what there is in your town

Year 8:

  • how to say what they do when the weather is nice/bad

 

HT2 - Students will learn

  • about different activities you can do in Paris
  • how to say what they like to do
  • how to ask for tourist information
  • how to say what they visited and what it was like
  • how to use the French Past Tense

 

HT3 - Students will learn

  • how to describe themselves
  • to talk about relationships
  • to say what music they like
  • to talk about their style

 

HT4 - Students will learn

  • how to say where they live and where they would like to live
  • how to describe their home
  • to talk about food and meal times
  • how to talk about a future even using the Future Tense

 

HT5 - Students will learn

  • to talk about talent and their ambitions
  • to say what you must and can do, using model verbs
  • to describe people’s personalities

 

HT6 - Students will learn

  • about world geography and French speaking countries
  • how to plant a garden
  • about the French revolution

 

Internal Assessment:

In Year 7 and Year 8, pupils will be assessed after each module through writing, reading, listening or speaking assessments. Year 7 students will be tested on one skill at the end of each module and Year 8 will be tested on two of the skill areas.

KS4 French and Spanish

 

Course Title: GCSE French/GCSE Spanish

Grading: 1-9

 

Course Overview:

Theme 2- Local, national, international and global areas of interest

  1. Home, town, neighbourhood and region
  2. Social issues
  3. Global issues

 

Theme 3 - Current and future study and employment

  3. Education post-16
  4. Careers choices and ambitions

 

External Assessment:

Students will be tested in the four main skills; Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The four skills are tested at the end of the course by examination and all papers are available at either foundation or higher tier. However, students will not be able to mix tiers on different papers.

 

Internal Assessment:

Throughout the 3 year course, students will be assessed at the end of each module through writing, reading, listening or speaking assessments. Students will be assessed on two of the skill areas following each module. Roughly halfway through each module, students will also have a mid-module writing assessment.
