What do I need to study the course? Students who have not achieved at least a grade C in English, Maths and Science struggle to make progress in this academic, scientific, rigorous subject. What does the course involve? Psychology is a very interesting subject. Psychology is the science of the mind and behaviour. It involves trying to understand human behaviour. During the topics you will learn information about human behaviour and gain possible explanations for areas such as aggression, attachment and abnormality. Although it is very interesting it is a very difficult topic. Paper 1 – 2 hours – 96 marks - This a written exam where students answer questions on topics including Memory, Attachment, Social Influence, Psychopathology. Paper 2 – 2 hours – 96 marks - This is also a written exam based on the study of Biopsychology, Approaches in Psychology and Research Methods Paper 3 – 2 hours – 96 marks - This is a written exam on the study of Relationships, Eating Behaviour and Forensic Psychology. Homework Students receive a homework booklet per topic and will be set pages from their homework booklets to complete. Students will also complete essay plans after each subtopic. Assessments Students will do an essay question after every sub topic as well as this they do exam questions every 2 lessons and end of unit tests. At the end of the two year course students will complete three external papers that last two hours each. Each paper hold each weighting to their overall A Level grade. What next? Psychology is a useful subject for lots of different career paths. It is especially for a wide variety of subjects such as clinical psychologists, criminal profilers police officers, doctors, nurses and teachers just to mention a few. Examination Board: AQA
