KS5 Geography Course Title: GCE AQA 7037 -This qualification is linear Grading: A* to E Course Overview Physical Geography Section A Water and Carbon cycles Section B Coastal systems and landscapes Section C Hazards Human Geography Section A Global systems and global governance Section B Changing places Section C Contemporary urban environments External Assessment: Component 1: Physical geography What’s assessed: Sections above Written exam 2 hour 30 min, 96 marks 40% of A Level Component 2: Human geography What’s assessed: Sections above Written exam 2 hour 30 min, 96 marks 40% of A Level Component 3: Geographical investigation Students complete ab individual investigation which must include data collected in the field. The individual investigation must be based on a question or issue defined and developed by the students relating to any part of the specification. How its assessed: 3000-4000 words 35 marks, 20% of A Level marked by teachers and moderated by AQA Internal Assessment Pupils will be assessed half-termly through written assessments to reflect the nature of geography examinations at KS5. Pupils will also sit an end of year examination which will cover content from all units taught throughout the year. Examination Board: AQA
