Key Stage 3
Key Stage 4
KS3 History Nationally, History is undergoing a period of reflection and restructure. The content to date, reflects that as a subject the History Department are meeting this challenge and amending our offer at KS3 through to KS5 in line with the wider direction of travel ensuring that lessons are informative, engaging and enjoyable. At KS3 we are producing new Schemes of Work and resources which accurately reflect the new GCSE expectations to help students gain skills needed to succeed should they choose History at GCSE. National Curriculum measures have been replaced by challenging Targets for Progress and all assessments at KS3 mirror learning outcomes at KS4. Rather than rework every Scheme of Work at once we have chosen to complete them in a more considered manner as the year progresses. You will find resources which cover the topics and skills we have delivered since September, plus the topics and skills presently being delivered. As the year progresses more topics and resources will be uploaded. This approach allows for a period of reflection and adjustment at each step in order to ensure that the overall outcome is finely tuned to the needs of both you the students and the exam boards.

KS4 History Nationally, History is undergoing a period of reflection and restructure. The content to date, reflects that as a subject the History Department are meeting this challenge and amending our offer at KS3 through to KS5 in line with the wider direction of travel ensuring that lessons are informative, engaging and enjoyable. KS4 is part way through a transition period and it is therefore very important that you access the correct resources. Year 11, 2016-17, are completing the ‘old’ GCSE using the AQA exam board. Resources are therefore focussed on the expectations and demands of AQA History (Specification B). In this specification the 3rd exam is translated into Controlled Assessment which must be completed to the highest standard possible. Years 9 and 10 are studying the ‘new’ GCSE format and after much deliberation we chose Edexcel History to be delivered over 3 years. There is no longer any Controlled Assessment, instead the students sit 3 exams at the end of Year 11 making it vitally important that all the varied exam skills are mastered by every student. Again, we will be uploading resources for the new GCSE throughout the year.
