You should have five GCSEs grades A*- C, though it is recommended that you have a ‘B’ or higher in English. You do not need to have studied Media Studies before, but students who are actively engaged in media consumption (TV, Magazines, Video Games, News, Social Media) will benefit from that involvement.
The course works very well alongside drama, photography, graphics, psychology, English, History and other essay based subjects.
This is an academic course that enables students to understand how the media shapes the world around us by deconstructing the messages we are given and examining the process of interpretation that is undertaken by audiences. Alongside the examined content students also get a chance to apply their theoretical understanding through the creation of their own media products.

The A level course has run for nearly a decade and has always proved itself to be a successful and popular course. Built around communication and analytical ability this is a respected qualification for employers who value the skills that the A level develops. This course is ideally suited for more academically minded students, especially those who wish to pursue careers in journalism, advertising, marketing, research and teaching.
